JOB INTERVIEW

#11

A job interview is an individual interview consisting of a conversation between a job seeker and an employer representative that is carried out to evaluate whether the applicant should be hired. Interviews are one of the most widely used devices for employee selection. Interviews vary in the extent to which questions are structured, from a totally unstructured conversational conversation, to a structured interview in which the applicant is asked to have a predetermined list of questions in a specific order; Structured interviews are usually more accurate predictors of the candidates who will make good employees, according to research studies.

A job interview usually precedes the hiring decision. The interview is usually preceded by the evaluation of the curricula presented by the interested candidates, possibly by examining job applications or reading many curricula. Then, after this selection, a small number of interview candidates is selected.

Potential job interview opportunities also include networking events and career fairs. The job interview is considered one of the most useful tools for evaluating potential employees. It also requires significant resources from the employer, but has been shown to be notoriously unreliable in identifying the optimum person for the job. An interview also allows the candidate to evaluate corporate culture and job demands.

Multiple rounds of job interviews and / or other candidate selection methods can be used where there are many candidates or the job is particularly challenging or desirable. Previous rounds sometimes called "screening interviews" may involve fewer staff from employers and will usually be much shorter and shallower. An increasingly common initial interview approach is the telephone interview. This is especially common when candidates do not live near the employer and have the advantage of keeping costs low for both parties. Since 2003, the interviews have been conducted through videoconferencing software, such as Skype. Once all the candidates have been interviewed, the employer usually selects the most desired candidates and begins negotiating a job offer.
